Learning agreement

Proposal:  What do you intend to do?
I intended to create traditional and digital concept art for my game “Man’s world”, this game will focus on social roles and how gender does not make up the entirety of who someone is.
The player takes control of a citizen in this new order of female only worlds, who stumbles across the secret of what happened to man and what has become of the remaining few, the players goal in the game is to unravel the truth behind their perfect utopia and delve into what it really is. The game will be from an FPS perspective as I want the player to really immerse themselves in this world and the character they play as.

My inspiration for this game comes from series like Bioshock and Fallout that focus on an alternative history to what it’s known and adding concept that would make the game see fantastical, For references I shall be looking at the era around 1886, as I want to go into an age of wonder, specially with Nikola Tesla’s inventions of electricity being adapted for more SCI-FI like war fare, so most items and weapons in the game will have a Tesla feel to them.

I’ll also look into the concept such as Lilith, the first wife of Adam, as I’d believe they would probably worship a being that removed itself from god.

The architectural style will be based around 1800-1899, but for my visual colour palette I will be switching between bright glamorous colours to over emphasise this so called Utopia, but as you delve deeper, the colours will be come darker and more foreboding. I really want to get this feel of grand ethereality.
Assessment Work:

By the time I finish this unit, I shall have created a mood board reflecting the design of my world, character concept art, environments and weapons/props.

I will be producing concept art work and a final digital piece for at least, one character design, weapons and a location. To give a rounded feeling as to what the game is about.

I do this to help expand my understanding of digital painting.

I shall start by gathering research which I shall place in my blog, these will be my foot notes into the look and feel of my game, I shall then use these research to make rough sketches of characters, locations and items through out the game, until I pin down the look I want, once that is done, I shall create a final design for at least one of the locations/weapons and characters, to which I will then produce a digital painting version of them.
Schedule of Work: (to include the deadline for submission of assessment):

Deadline: 10th May
Total time: Five Weeks

Early into the project I shall start by researching the era in which my game is set, looking at the styles of clothing, buildings the look and feel. Once I have accumulated enough information I shall then begin to start working on rough drafts of concepts, getting the look the tone and passion of the game down, these will lead up to the creation of my mood board which shall help direct the following concepts towards a more centred goal, while I am uncertain, I feel red will be a strong theme.
